Amazon to Develop Massive $50 Billion AI Cloud for US Authorities.

Despite mounting financial skepticism within the technology sector concerning the excessive funding directed towards artificial intelligence, firms specializing in computing infrastructure persist in significantly expanding their processing capabilities. A prominent figure in the cloud computing market, Amazon Web Services, is now committing substantial capital, running into billions, for the construction of novel data processing and artificial intelligence centers solely dedicated to governmental operations.

AWS has declared plans to incorporate almost 1.3 gigawatts of processing power into its present network, specifically targeting high performance computing services for government clients.

Amazon Is Expected To Begin Initial Work In 2026

Amazon intends to allocate a maximum of fifty billion dollars for the construction of these new data centers, with initial work scheduled to begin in 2026. This expenditure is set to broaden the AWS infrastructure established for the US government recently, introducing additional high performance computing capacity across the AWS Top Secret, AWS Secret, and AWS GovCloud (US) areas.

The company plans to broaden its portfolio of AWS offerings across more than eleven thousand federal entities, positioning the initiative as the United States government’s first dedicated infrastructure designed to support advanced artificial intelligence and high performance computing workloads.

Officials In Washington Will Be Able To Take Advantage of Amazon’s New Platform

Officials in Washington will be able to tap into a wider range of Amazon’s newest AI capabilities and workloads. These include tools for training and tailoring models through SageMaker, systems for agent based AI via Bedrock, and a selection of open weights foundation models such as Amazon Nova and Anthropic Claude.
Additionally, AWS is urging the government to adopt its proprietary Trainium artificial intelligence chips, alongside accelerator technology sourced from Nvidia.

In line with Amazon’s objectives, federal organizations are expected to utilize this specialized hardware and cloud environment to develop bespoke artificial intelligence applications, refine substantial datasets, and generally elevate the efficiency of government personnel.

Amazon Aims to Change the Fundamentals

Amazon is positioning itself on the assumption that large language models, agent based systems, and other advanced AI tools will fundamentally reshape the way the US government manages information, oversees monitoring activities, and reacts to emerging risks.

With access to far greater computing power, agencies may be able to consolidate their currently disjointed supply chain systems into a single, cohesive platform. Amazon maintains that the new AWS installations will reshape how defense and intelligence teams carry out their work and will support more advanced scientific modeling and digital simulation efforts in the years ahead.

Possible uses for this technology encompass independent operating systems, digital security measures, and investigations in energy and medical fields. This fifty billion dollar capital injection directly corresponds with the previously disclosed Artificial Intelligence Action Plan, which prioritizes the creation of a new, US-based infrastructure for AI and cloud computing.

AWS CEO Matt Garman said the investment in specialized government AI and cloud infrastructure will reshape how federal agencies use supercomputing, eliminating longstanding technological obstacles and strengthening America’s leadership in the AI age.

Amazon Highlights Its Significant Efforts

Amazon emphasizes the considerable efforts it has dedicated throughout the last ten years to successfully establish and refine specialized cloud infrastructure designed specifically to meet the rigorous demands of governmental operations. In 2011, AWS launched GovCloud (US-West), the first cloud built to meet federal security standards. In 2014, it expanded with the air-gapped Top Secret – East region to support classified workloads.
The AWS Top Secret – East region was established subsequently in 2014, incorporating a physically isolated commercial cloud facility intended for managing classified computing assignments.

During an interview at Emerson Collective’s 2025 Demo Day with Laurene Powell Jobs, they confirmed they are actively building device prototypes. When pressed for a timeline, Ive suggested we could see it arrive in less than two years.

What Will OpenAI’s Device Be Like?

Not many details have been shared about OpenAI’s upcoming device yet, but rumors suggest it won’t have a screen and will be roughly the same size as a smartphone. Altman described the design using three great words: ‘simple and beautiful and playful.’ He shared that while they had an earlier prototype they liked, it didn’t feel special. He used a funny phrase, saying he didn’t feel like he wanted ‘to pick up that thing and take a bite out of it,’ but now, they finally have a design that gives him that feeling.

It Was Stated That OpenAI Is Very Easy To Use

Simplicity and fun were key for Ive too. He said he appreciates solutions that are almost ‘naive in their simplicity,’ but also smart products that feel great to touch, aren’t intimidating, and are so easy to use that they feel automatic—just good tools.

Altman expressed his hope that when people finally see the product, they’ll immediately feel like ‘That’s it!’—and Ive’s confident response was simply, ‘Yeah, they will.

The First One UI 8.5 Beta Version Has Been Spotted

The initial One UI 8.5 beta build has now been identified on Samsung’s internal testing servers. This marks a key milestone, as Samsung usually makes its One UI beta publicly available only a few weeks after the firmware first appears on its test servers. Although the beta’s public release was initially anticipated for November, that timeframe now seems unlikely. Current indications point to Samsung making the One UI 8.5 beta available to the public in December instead.

For context, the One UI 7 beta was released to the public roughly 24 days after it first appeared on Samsung’s internal test servers, while the One UI 8 beta became publicly available 17 days after it was spotted on those servers.
Likewise, the One UI 8 beta reached the public about 17 days after being identified on the test servers. Following this pattern, a public release of the One UI 8.5 beta can reasonably be expected within the next two to three weeks.
Separately, SamMobile found that the current One UI 8.5 beta test build does not include the Single Take or Dual Rec camera modes.

Several New And Cooler Features May Be Introduced In One UI 8.5

For context, Single Take uses AI to generate multiple photos from a brief video capture, while Dual Rec enables simultaneous video recording from two cameras, such as the front and rear modules. Because this is an early test build, the absence of these features could simply stem from an unresolved bug rather than an intentional removal.
The other possibility is that Samsung is preparing to replace those two modes entirely. We might see them introduce a couple of new, cooler features instead when One UI 8.5 officially drops.

In addition, recent reports indicate that Samsung is introducing a One UI 8.5 feature that enables users to transfer an eSIM phone number from an iPhone to a compatible Galaxy device without carrier involvement, addressing a long-standing interoperability gap between Apple and Android.

The One UI 8.5 update is also set to add enhanced Wi-Fi management features, including Real-Time Data Priority Mode, which prioritizes data usage across apps, and an AI-based system that automatically shifts between Wi-Fi and cellular networks for optimal connectivity.
